Creepin'...and a pair of jeggings

Felicity is not crawling yet, but she is on the go with her creeping skills. (Just for my records, she officially started doing this last Sunday, Sept. 12.) She can and will easily get something that is 3-4 feet away from her by creeping. Things of particular interest to her are of course, not toys, but - the laptop, my makeup, any of our food, cell phones...you can really entice her to start moving when you put these things just out of her reach. She can get up on her knees, but can't yet hold up her body weight with her arms, so she sort of launches herself forward with her tummy still on the ground...if that makes any sense. Her creeping style is best explained in video, but since I can't figure out how to post videos on here, I'll just post some pics of Felicity modeling her new jeggings I bought her instead.

Miss Lici-mac has definitely got some junk in the trunk!
(Who are we kidding? She didn't stand a chance with Justin and I as her parents.)

Poopercises

Yes, we are now doing poop exercises, or "poopercises", as I call them. Why oh why was I so excited about starting solids?? I mean, yes - it was a bit of a novelty the first few times...she looked so cute with the food all over her sweet face, but now, I'm over it. I mean, it's still fun to watch her get so excited to eat and try new things, but it has caused many new frustrations additions to my day:
  • LOTS more laundry with LOTS more stains
  • LOTS more dishes
  • A LOT longer feeding time. She is a pretty good eater, but she is slow...very slow. It takes almost an hour to nurse her, then feed her baby food and then get her all cleaned up. No more 15 min. of nursing and done.
  • And lastly - she has become MAJORLY constipated
As in, she hadn't pooped in four days. This coming from the child that has multiple dirty diapers a day. When I called the doctor's office, the nurse said, "well, I'm sure you are already doing the exercises." Exercises? To make her poop? I was not aware of any such thing. She then preceded to explain to me how to do these "poopercises", so we've been doing them multiple times a day since...and feeding her lots of prunes. I have to say, they did work. I won't post pictures of that victory, but let's just say these new diapers are nothing short of scary. It's a two person job. Here are some cuter pics instead.

Carrots

This morning Felicity enjoyed her first real baby food, other than rice cereal. We gave her carrots, which she loved. Here's the proof --

(Please excuse my rough morning look...)

YUMMY!

Coffee date

Our family's Labor Day plans consisted of going to our friends, the Derck's, for Grace's first birthday party, to the Kahn's for a pool party and watching the Texas Tech game. Other than that, it meant relaxing at home and just being cozy...my ideal long weekend.

One of my favorite things that Justin and I have done since we've been married is our coffee dates. It might not sound like much, but it means the world to me. I think it might go back to watching my grandparents have coffee together on their back porch together every morning...and praying that someday I would have someone to share that with. Well, now I do and this Labor Day weekend, Felicity joined us for our coffee date. It was the first "cool" morning we've had around here, so it made it that much sweeter to enjoy it outdoors on our back porch. Here's some shots of us enjoying the morning together.

6 months

I literally cannot believe we are halfway through Felicity's first year. On Friday she celebrated her first half birthday, turning 6 months old. Felicity, if you ever read this someday (and I really hope you do), know that I think you are amazing and couldn't adore anything more. I am so proud to be your mommy.

The latest:
  • We loaded up in the pouring rain this morning to take Felicity to her six month appt. She had only gained 1 oz. since her four month appt., but the doctor didn't seem to be concerned. She said it is probably because she is more active now. She also grew one inch, so that puts her latest stats at: 16 lbs. 12 oz. (70th percentile) and 27 inches long (90th percentile). She is officially no longer off the charts at over 98 percentile anymore!
  • She has been pretty fussy all day after the shots this morning, so with the rain, we've just had a cozy day indoors....although, she seems to be feeling better. I just found her eating the band-aids she took off her legs from her shots.
  • The little one is still on the same napping and feeding schedule: wake and nurse at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.; naps from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and bedtime at 7:30 p.m.
  • She is also still enjoying her rice cereal for breakfast every morning after I nurse her. I still feel like she really enjoys the taste and there's no denying she loves to eat, but she still pushes the spoon out with her tongue a bit...we're working on it. We are starting actual baby food at the very start of six months, so I'll have more to report on that later.
  • She's not really doing this anymore, but at the beginning of this month, she was definitely very entertained with her fake cough. She was not sick, but just loved the attention she would get when she "coughed." Thankfully, that dramatic flair has died down.
  • We're still squeezing into her 6-9 month clothes, especially the six month size. I'm not going to buy her any more summer clothes, so I'm waiting just a bit longer and then I'm going to get  her some larger fall/winter outfits.
  • When you call her name, she looks! For some reason, I find this skill very exciting. I guess it because it one of the first signs of true communication with her.
  • She's still in size 3 diapers and finally, finally has gotten down to only a few poop diapers a day, sometimes only one! This is huge since she's been pooping almost 10 times a day since she was born. Out. of. control.
  • Teething: this is the worst. I feel so sorry for her because you can tell how badly it is hurting her. No teeth have popped up yet, but for her sake, I'm hoping its soon. For my sake (with the nursing), I'm hoping it will take a little while longer. :-)
  • She's not crawling yet, but she's really trying. She will get up on her knees and elbows and just rock back and forth. As soon as she figures out to push up on those arms, things are not going to be the same around here!
And here are the obligatory monthly pictures of her in the glider in her nursery:

Felicity and her daddy have the same haircut.

She was quite enamored with the fan.

And this time I shot some of her sitting in her own little rocking chair...
