I'm still here!

And I promise I'll be updating lots of stuff soon. The main excuse I have for my lack of posts, is that WE MOVED!! You may remember the miniature announcement I made at the end of this post. Well, after lots of planning, praying and packing, we finally made it to McKinney and so far, we're loving it. I have lots of blogging to catch up on, so I'll be working my way through what's been going on in our world.

Sweet summertime fun

To say that it is hot would be a huge understatement. It has been in the triple digits for weeks. But I'm trying to be thankful for warm weather (note to self: remember these days when it is bitter cold!) and for AC! I've been a little sparse with my updates this summer, so here's a recap of how we've been spending our days together...

Camped out...

I'm back! We FINALLY have a new computer and I am in heaven. Our lil' old PC finally tanked and was so slow, it was literally taking me more than 30 min. to send a two sentence email. Ughhh...so blogging was definitely out of the question.

But NOW - I am camped out in front of our new iMac and am loving it. I have the perfect set up --


  • lovely new and fast computer - check
  • fresh cup of good pens, pencils and highlighters - check
  • legal pad (complete with scribble art courtesy of Lici) - check
  • glass of red wine - check
  • yummy cheese to snack on - check
  • photos of my sweet love - check
  • and of course, candles - check

(Not to mention what you can't see, which is me in my pj's, robe, slippers and a heating pad {yes, in June}...those who know me well, will not be surprised in the least, that I am ecstatic about spending my Sunday night this way. FYI - Justin is camped out in the room with me switching between watching the college baseball super regionals and the Mavs.)

And yes, I know the picture is very dark and you probably can't even see anything, but that is how I like it - dark and cozy.

It is really ridiculous how fast this computer is compared to our old one. I didn't even know what I was missing. I am going to be a speed blogstress now. I have a lot of posts to go back and do, so I'll be whittling my way down the list and will let you know (if you care) when I have posted something old, since I typically back date them. That's all - I am so glad to be back to my blogging!

Springtime

Here are some pictures I snapped of Felicity and some of her cute buddies at the Arboretum where we met for playgroup this week. At this age I don't think there's more fun they can have than just the freedom to roam.

I'm so thankful to have this group of sweet mommies and babies to share with. If I could give any advice to new moms it would be that - get involved with some type of group with other new moms and figure it out together!

Way behind...

I am WAY behind on here. I have a running list of blog posts that I need to do. I totally missed Fe at 9 months, Thanksgiving, getting our tree, etc. I'm going to do them soon and then back date them all. I think I just got caught up with so many of the holiday to-do's that I fell off the blogging wagon. Oh well, living in the moment is more important than writing about it! In the meantime, if I don't get to the posts before Christmas - everyone have a very safe and happy and blessed Christmas!

Party on, Wayne


As I mentioned, I finally got my hair cut. I still feel like I don't have a great pic of it, but here's a few recent shots:


Overall, I really like it. The bangs were a total surprise. It takes a bit more work, but I think its a nice change and something I don't mind for the cooler weather. I think the bangs might cause major frustration during the hot, humid summer, but who knows if I'll even have them by then. Anyway, there is one downside to this hair cut...and my sweet husband definitely called it out.

Now, let me preface this by saying that Justin does really like my haircut; however, the other night when it was not fixed and had just air dried into a total frizz mess, he looked me and said, "You look sort of like Dana Carvey."

"Who's she?" I asked. Well, as it turns out - she is actually a he...this attractive fellow:

Yes, that is Garth from Wayne's World.

I have to say, at the time he made that comment, I absolutely agreed with him. So, in the words of Garth, "Party on, Wayne."

Finally...

So, I've finally given in and started a blog...

With the arrival of our new little one, I figure this is the best way to keep everyone updated and provide pics of what is going on in the Cleveland household. I will admit that creating a blog is something I've debated about for quite some time. I have enjoyed reading so many friends' blogs and keeping up with what's going on in their worlds; however, sometimes I find myself getting caught with feelings of discontentment. What I mean is, sometimes when reading others' blogs, I end up with those "I wish" feelings...looking at their stories and thinking that sometimes my daily life isn't as exciting or interesting, when that isn't true at all.

I am working on applying this verse to my life in more ways than one:

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
Philippians 4:11-13

So...all of that to say, I will, of course, be sharing mostly happy and joyous moments in this space, because those are the ones we want to remember and cherish. But please know, that our life consists of many more moments than these...some better, some worse...but all part of what makes Justin, Felicity, Olive and me, our own unique and wonderful family that God designed.
