And we're up

On Sunday, the little lady surprised us by pulling this move all by herself -

Taking care of her is now a whole different ball game, but it's so much fun watching her explore. She is trying to pull up on everything!!

Fall

Fall is here! I'm pretending it is at least. I light all my pumpkin candles, surround myself with autumn decor and try to ignore the 90 degree weather.  Here's a few pics of Fe on our front porch enjoying her first fall...

 Here comes brother Olive.

Party on, Wayne

As I mentioned, I finally got my hair cut. I still feel like I don't have a great pic of it, but here's a few recent shots:

Overall, I really like it. The bangs were a total surprise. It takes a bit more work, but I think its a nice change and something I don't mind for the cooler weather. I think the bangs might cause major frustration during the hot, humid summer, but who knows if I'll even have them by then. Anyway, there is one downside to this hair cut...and my sweet husband definitely called it out.

Now, let me preface this by saying that Justin does really like my haircut; however, the other night when it was not fixed and had just air dried into a total frizz mess, he looked me and said, "You look sort of like Dana Carvey."

"Who's she?" I asked. Well, as it turns out - she is actually a he...this attractive fellow:

Yes, that is Garth from Wayne's World.

I have to say, at the time he made that comment, I absolutely agreed with him. So, in the words of Garth, "Party on, Wayne."

I'm getting smarter

...well, not sure if that's entirely true, but I was pretty proud of myself for thinking of this:

I'm sure millions of other moms are doing this and have been doing this for years, but when I figured it out, I felt a little smarter. Since Felicity is on the go now, I'm finding it more and more difficult when I have to move from room to room or work on a project for a while. The other day I was in her room putting her laundry away and was having to pause every 2 seconds to prevent her from getting into something. So...I plopped her in the laundry basket with some toys and voila! One content little chick-a-dee!! (At least for a few minutes while I was able to finish what I was doing). Technically, I guess it is just a smaller, more uncomfortable version of the playpen, but it's a quicker fix and much easier to move from room to room. Anyway, as I said, I suspect this is old news to everyone, but just wanted to pass along!

Visit to Grandma Ellie

Last weekend we traveled down to Harker Heights, Texas (near Killeen) to visit Justin's grandma. Her friends had thrown a "grandma shower" for Felicity, so we had lots of goodies to bring home!

One lucky and loved little girl...

Felicity and her Great Grandma Ellie

Ellie and Mark recently built their beautiful new home, so it was great to see all they've done. I'm jealous of her awesome craft room! Everything was so "fallish" and festive for the season - as you can see, Felicity enjoyed the decorations too.

7 months

A bit behind on this one, but nevertheless...Felicity turned 7 months about a week ago!

Where we're at...
  • The teeth are here! Her bottom middle two teeth came in at the same time on Sept. 28.
  • We are in full force with the baby food, eating cereal/oatmeal and our fruits and veggies three times a day. She has gotten faster, which has been really nice. I would say her favorite veggies are sweet potatoes and squash and her favorite fruits are bananas and prunes.
  • I won't list it out again (since its in so many other posts), but she's still on the same napping and feeding schedule.
  • I guess technically these should fall to the 8 month post, since she started doing them after she turned 7 months, but as I posted earlier, she is saying "mama", crawling like a mad woman and sitting up all on her own.
  • Size 3 diapers and mostly 12 month size for clothes
  • Based upon my rough estimates, I think she weighs about 18.5 lbs
  • We haven't experienced any separation anxiety yet, but she has started doing this thing sometimes -- when I'm holding her and someone (other than Justin) comes up and starts talking to her, she seems to get shy and smile coyly and she then lays her head on my chest. It's so sweet, since its just about the only time she does that anymore!
And ok, we got back in from Longview on her actual 7 month birthday and I forgot to take the pictures. These were taken on Oct. 4 and yes, I know it looks like she dressed herself. Oh well, it was just one of those days. :)

Yesterday was a big day

Yesterday Felicity did three new things, so it was a big day around here.

1. She said "mama" for the first time. I don't think I'm going to officially count this as her first word since she has no idea what that means, but it was the first consonant sound she made. She did it when I was changing her diaper around 7 a.m. She didn't do it again until 7 p.m. that night when I was about to nurse her and put her down. I didn't think anyone was going to believe me, but the little lady proved  I wasn't crazy and Justin got to hear it too. Pretty exciting.

2. She legitimately crawled, as in moved her arms and legs with her stomach off the ground to get across the room.  She's still faster doing her version of the army crawl, but nevertheless, she did it.

3. And finally, she sat up on her own for the first time. She's been sitting for a while now, but this was the first time she was able to put herself in that position from laying down...

Too busy to post any pics of these feats, but here's one of her in her pj's (just because I like to include pics with my posts)...

10 year high school reunion

I've been planning my 10 year high school reunion since January and last weekend, it finally came to fruition. You always worry when you plan something like this, if what you put together is what everyone is expecting. My hope is that is that I met my classmates' expectations and provided a good opportunity to catch up with old friends and reflect on sweet memories.

On Thursday, Felicity and I drove down to Longview early to handle some reunion errands, but spent most of the day over at my grandparents. We had lunch together on the back porch and then while Felicity napped, Grandma and I went shopping for Fe. Being the queen of comfy pj's, Grandma bought Fe some comfy new jammies for winter.

In other big news, I finally got my hair cut! Thank you, Hung (who has been cutting my hair since I was 11)!! I don't have any good pics of it yet, but it will make a blog appearance soon.

On Friday night, we went to the Pine Tree football game, where Justin met us. My parents had been planning Felicity's outfit for weeks. As you can see, they spared no expense. My dad (all on his own, no less) even had a local florist construct a bow for her head out of a garter. Too cute!

The actual reunion activities took place on Saturday, beginning with a family picnic at a park. That afternoon we had a tour of the high school and concluded the day with dinner at a local restaurant. I'm sad to say, I was just a bit too preoccupied to have captured any pictures from any of the events. Oh well...

For the most part, I enjoyed planning the reunion, but I am definitely happy to have some more free time back on my plate so that I can focus on some other things important to me. A huge thank you to Boates, who was a constant help and support throughout the planning and to Amy, Jenny, Leah, Josh and Denisa for being such a great help with set-up and clean-up. I could not have done it without you!
